Gavin D Smith is one of the world's leading whisky writers and authorities on the subject. Editor, author and journalist, he contributes feature material to a wide range of specialist and general interest publications. He is also the author of more than 20 books, including The A-Z of Whisky, Worts, Worms & Washbacks, Whisky Wit & Wisdom, The Secret Still, The Scottish Smuggler, The Whisky Men, Whisky: A Brief History, Ardbeg: A Peaty Provenance and Goodness Nose (with Richard Paterson).

Gavin provided tasting notes and editorial material for the 6th edition of Michael Jackson's Malt Whisky Companion (2010), and his latest book - 'Discovering Scotland's Distilleries' - was
published in the spring of 2010 by GWP. Gavin is proud to be a Keeper of the Quaich, and he is in demand for consultancy work, hosting of whisky-related talks and tutored tastings. See
