Master of Malt, 50-Year-Old Speyside Single Malt (Scotland)
Master of Malt is an online whisky retailer and independent bottler, based in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The company offers a range of own-label single cask malt whiskies, along with 30, 40 and 50-year-old Speyside single malts, from undisclosed distilleries.
‘Top of the range’ is this complex semi-centenarian, which displays a beguiling, mellow nose, complete with lively fruits which belie its age. Peaches and oranges feature, along with a perfumed note of heather and old, polished wood. The palate displays dried fruits, honey, balancing oak tannins and well integrated smoke. Very long in the finish, with a hint of both white and dark chocolate, plus more smoke.
