Cutty Sark Cocktails

by Gavin D Smith, 04/12

Cutty Sark blended Scotch is celebrating the re-opening of its namesake, the world's last surviving tea clipper, on the 26th of this month. The legendary tea clipper, moored in Greenwich, south-east London, has been undergoing renovations for the past five years, and to toast its re-opening to the public, Cutty Sark whisky has created a pair of new cocktails.

cutty sark Leading 'mixologist' Andy Gemmell says that "Cutty Sark is a light and versatile whisky, making it an ideal base for long mixed drinks. These two new creations are an apt tribute to the revival of the world's last tea-clipper."

1 shot Cutty Sark
½ shot Bols Triple Sec Liqueur
1 wedge fresh lime

Pour all ingredients over cubed ice in tall glass starting with the lime wedge, give it a light stir and then top up with fresh cubed ice if needed.

2 shots Cutty Sark
2 dashes Angostura Bitters
1 barspoon gomme (sugar) syrup
Orange peel

Stir all ingredients with cubed ice for 20 seconds in a short glass and then garnish with orange peel.
