The Whisky Live format has been successfully transferred from London to Scotland, along with New York, Toronto, Tokyo, Paris, Brussels and even South Africa, and is designed to appeal to both novices and connoisseurs alike. It offers a wide range of trade stands where participants may sample a plethora of interesting and unusual whiskies, both from distilling companies and independent bottlers, along with masterclasses, hosted by some of the Scotch whisky industry's leading figures. www.whiskylive.com    22-25 September Meanwhile, later in the month, Dufftown is the place to be for the Autumn Speyside Whisky Festival, featuring a variety of talks, tastings and distillery visits. The distilleries in question are often ones that are not usually open to the public, and tours are frequently hosted by their managers.
